A Hope For Everyone

The purpose of CARE is to make a difference in the lives of people experiencing poverty, suffering, misfortune and distress through programs, connections and services.

Food Stall

The Victory Care Food Stall has been operating since the 23rd May 2023. It was initially launched in partnership with Coles SecondBite in response to the growing number of ‘Walk-ins’ asking for help at the Victory Centre. We started with 2 pickups of about 50kg of food from Coles and approximately 20 people received food each week.

By the end of 2025 we had 4 pickups from Coles SecondBite and a delivery from OzHarvest, with an average of about 750kg of food and 75 people receiving food each week. The spread of food we receive is varied with fruit, veg, bakery, pantry, meat and pet food. We can never guarantee what we will have but can always be generous with what we do receive.

This initiative is facilitated by teams of wonderful volunteers who help to make the atmosphere warm and friendly for all who attend.

Women and children escaping domestic and family violence don’t think to grab the lawn mower, and once placed in safe housing can find it difficult to keep up with yard work. In 2020 Victory Care identified a significant gap in local services providing yard assistance. In response to this the ‘Yard Maintenance Initiative’ was launched through formal MOUs with local Domestic and Family Violence Organisations. Women are referred to the project and a team of trained volunteers attend their property with a trailer and tidy the yards, making it manageable for the women to look after on their own.

We are very thankful to our volunteer Team Leaders and Team members who give of their time and achieve some amazing transformations.

Victory Care’s Yard Maintenance Initiative is a referral-based service for women fleeing domestic and family violence.

If you have a client who meets these criteria, please download the Victory Care Yard Maintenance Request Form HERE.

Money Mentoring

The process of walking alongside someone in financial distress continues to be incredibly rewarding and fruitful. From clients who only need 1 or 2 sessions, to those who need a mentor to journey with them for several months or years, the impact is always substantial.

Many people don’t grow up learning how to manage money or set up a budget, so gaining these skills provides an instant boost in confidence, regardless of how much debt they have or how low their income may be. It’s always such an honour to empower people in such a practical way.

Empowered Life

Life Skills course and cooking demonstration

Victory Care is always looking for ways to further empower people who attend the Food Stall and that is the intention of the Empowered Life course.

Our amazing volunteers deliver a program with content centred around releasing pressure, building confidence, learning new things, making new friends, and discovering your value. Each weekly session also includes a cooking demonstration, a taste test and an ingredient hamper to take home.

Since the establishment of Victory Care we have raised over $68,000 through various fundraising initiatives. One of our most effective fundraisers is participating in Bunnings Sausage Sizzles! In 2025 we had outstanding teams of volunteers support Victory Care in facilitating four Bunnings BBQ’s to raise $9,366.

Sometimes it is hot, hard work but they do it with a smile and represent Victory Care in an outstanding way to the community.

‘MEL’S STORY’

When life fell apart, Mel had just $150 to her name and three of her five children in her care. She had escaped a violent relationship and entered a season of deep uncertainty—alone, homeless, and unsure how to provide for her family. “I didn’t know how I was going to provide the most basic of needs for my kids,” Mel recalls. “Being homeless for 18 months was really exhausting and scary for us all.”

In the middle of that crisis, Mel encountered a local church - and found more than she expected. There, she met Jesus and was embraced by a warm and supportive community. “You feel alone in your head, so when you’ve got people that can just lift you up and be around you … you’re not alone,” Mel shares. “I found a community and a safe space that I haven’t ever had in my whole life… I now feel very protected.”

But while Mel had found spiritual and emotional support, her financial situation remained overwhelming. As a single mother living on one income, she was falling behind on repayments and didn’t know how to fix the mounting stress.

In November 2024, Mel was connected to C3 Victory Care and met Darren, a CAP-trained Money Mentor and qualified counsellor. That meeting marked a turning point. “I felt relieved at that first meeting with Darren,” Mel says. “He made me feel very comfortable and reassured me that we were going to get there with my financial situation.”

Darren helped Mel set up a money management system tailored to her needs and walked alongside her as a domestic violence counsellor - supporting her holistically through a traumatic and complex season. During this time, Mel also received practical help from Victory Care’s Yard Maintenance service. Volunteers visited her property in both June 2024 and April 2025 - to help her manage the upkeep of her home environment. The support brought more than a tidy yard - it brought relief.

“Mel just needed someone to walk alongside her,” Darren reflects. “She’s still got a journey to go… but she’s changed - she’s a different person.”

Today, Mel continues to grow in strength and confidence. Her journey isn’t over, but she’s no longer facing it alone. Through C3 Victory Care’s client support service and partnership with CAP Australia, she’s found practical support, community, and a renewed sense of hope. Mel’s story is a powerful reminder that when churches, money mentors, and community services come together, lives can be transformed - one step, one decision, one courageous moment at a time.
